Frequently Asked Questions

Are Intensive Driving Courses more successful than normal lessons?

Whether intensive driving courses are more successful than normal lessons depends on several factors, including your learning style and experience level. Here's a breakdown to help you decide:

Pros of Intensive Courses

Faster learning: You can learn the basics and prepare for the test in a shorter period (usually a week or two).
Focused learning: You'll have dedicated time to practice and receive feedback.
Quick results: If you pass the test, you'll get your license sooner.

Cons of Intensive Courses

Stressful: The condensed schedule can be overwhelming for some learners.
Less time for practice: You'll have fewer hours to practice independently between lessons. If you're completely new to driving, you may need a long course

Pros of Normal Lessons

Less stressful: You have more time to learn and practice at your own pace.
More practice time: You can practice independently between lessons.
May be better for complete beginners: A gradual approach can help you build confidence and skills.

Cons of Normal Lessons

Takes longer: It can take several months to prepare for the test.
Easier to forget: You might forget things between lessons.
Ultimately, the best choice for you depends on your individual circumstances. Consider these factors:

Learning style: If you learn best in short bursts, an intensive course might be a good option. If you prefer a more gradual approach, normal lessons might be better.
Experience level: If you're a complete beginner, be realistic and select the correct course for you. If you already have some experience, an intensive course could be a good way to accelerate your learning.
Time constraints: If you need to get your license quickly, an intensive course might be a good option.
Budget: Intensive courses can be more expensive upfront, but they may save you money in the long run if you pass the test quickly.

Why do I have to have passed my Theory Test before booking an Intensive Driving Course?

Because Driving Tests are in high demand there is often a 4/5 months wait to book one. So if you pass your theory in January it could well be May/June before a test can be arranged. We cannot book a course in without a theory test as there simply wouldn't be a driving test available at the end of it and if you were to book a course i'm sure you wouldn't want to wait 4 months before your test

Do I do all my lessons in a week or are they spread out?

Yes you do all your lessons on consecutive days, normally 9.15am to 4.15pm

What areas do you cover?

As we are based in Askam in Furness we cover Barrow-in-Furness and the Furness peninsula, Grange over Sands, Kendal, Windermere, Lancaster and Morecambe. We can also cover other LA postcodes. Please enquire if in doubt?

Is the price of the test included?

Yes, the driving test is included in the course.

Can I use my own car for the course?

Normally, the instructor's car will be used for the course as there are issues around public liability insurance when using the pupil's car

When do I have to pay the full amount?

Normally, the full amount is due 4 weeks before the course begins. But, of course if you want to settle earlier that's fine

Do you do weekly lessons?

Sorry, I can't take weekly lessons as Intensive Courses are a full time job

Is it worth doing a manual driving test if all cars are going to be automatic?

It will take a long time before manual cars disappear from the roads ... we're talking decades! So YES, it's worth your while training in a manual car and getting a manual driving licence that covers you for both automatic and manual.
